2012 Clan Application Information
The word ‘Clan’ means family. A huge part of the tradition of Highland Games is the gathering of the Clans – and using geneological services – you may find that you belong to one or more clans. Each Clan has a tartan with a plaid that is designed for a particular Clan. In order to wear the tartan of the Clan, you should be a member of the clan. You may be able to identify that old heirloom tartan that has been in your family for years at the Games!
Clan Tents are set up around the main field where the families of each Clan gather to watch the competition. If you find your family name at one of these tents, there will be someone there to welcome you and tell you about your family history as it relates to the Clan.
