Dance Competitions

Highland Dance competition will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (SOBHD) rules govern all events. All dancers must have a 2018 Federation of United States Teachers and Adjudicators (FUSTA) registration number in order to compete.

Dancer Scholarship

One $250 scholarship and one $100 scholarship will be awarded by the SMSF&G to a student of Highland Dance to be written to the school where the dancer receives instruction in highland dance.

Dance Workshop

There will be a dance workshop on Sunday morning at the Boys/Girls club in Maryville. This is year 6 for this workshop. Competitors see the Workshop as a good chance to compete and get extra instruction at a reasonable cost. All the money collected goes to pay for the gym and to offset expenses for the US Inter- regional competitions. Check for available slots on Saturday at Dance check-in.

SATURDAY DANCE EVENTS

3:30 PM Scottish Country Dancing

On Saturday at approximately 3:30pm to 5:30pm after the Highland Dance competition is completed attendees can join experienced Scottish Country dancers from the area to learn and dance several Scottish Country dances. We'll review a variety of dances. For each, we'll teach the dances and demonstrate, then walk through the dances slowly, and finally add music so that everyone can dance.

 

 

SUNDAY DANCE EVENTS

10:30 AM Scottish Country Dancing
