Dog Show

Scottish Dog Parade & Talent Show

Any festival visitor who purchases a ticket to enter and brings their dog, on a short leash, may participate in the Dog Parade and Talent Show. For a $5 donation, you may enter your beloved pet in the Talent Show competition. For a $3 donation, you may enter your pet in the Pet Parade. For $6, you may enter your pet in both the competition and parade. All funds will be donated to the Blount County Humane Society.

THE PARADE: All dogs on short leash may participate and will be generally lined up by breeds.  All will parade in a large circle in front of the grandstands while the P.A. Announcer will make a valiant attempt to identify the various breeds of dogs in the parade.

THE TALENT COMPETITION: With all participating dogs lined around the field, dogs entered in this competition will each have 2 minutes to perform whatever it is that they do best with their master. There will be two categories of competition:  1) Athletic and 2) Tricks or stunts.  Only 20 dogs will be permitted to enter and each will turn in an entry form to the show director within one hour before the show. The competition will be judged by a panel of qualified dog trainers/experts who will determine which dogs in each category were most talented and entertaining.  Standard dog competition rules WILL NOT be used.  This is strictly an entertainment activity and judging criteria will be to pick the most talented and entertaining dog.  This show is in no way sanctioned or affiliated with any Dog organization or group.  It is solely for the purpose of having fun at the Smoky Mountain Highland Games.

Lovely, laser etched wooden plaques will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place dogs in each category.
